1 The boat named “The Lark” travelled between San Diego and San Francisco. This scene, the last with Georgia, was filmed on board in April 1925; the final shots were not filmed until 14-15 May.

1 It has been suggested that Chaplin, expecting some critics to object to the kiss as out of character for the Tramp, forestalled them by having the reporter shout “Oh! you’ve spoilt the picture.” When Chaplin reissued The Gold Rush in 1942 he omitted this ending.

1 The role of Jack Cameron was played by Malcolm Waite (b.1893, Menominee, Michigan) who studied engineering before entering films in 1924. A friend of Mary Pickford’s brother Jack, he appeared with her in Dorothy Vernon of Haddon Hall (1924).
